My Decorated Pumpkin

Did I ever say how much I LOVE Fall?  I love love love it!  I couldn't wait for the October Silhouette face book challenge so I could do a Fall project.  I knew I wanted to use a new medium, so I decided to use the double sided sticker sheets and decorated a pumpkin. 

 

Here is my pumpkin!   Not only do I love how it turned out, I love how easy it was to use the adhesive.  I debated weather to do a monogrammed or something that was Halloween.  I knew that I didn't want to do anything scary.  I don't think this is too scary.

 

 

 

 

For this project you will need:

 

Double-sided adhesive sheets

glitter

pumpkin

small paint brush

 

 

 

Step one was to find a image that I liked.   I then measured my pumpkin and then sized my image to fit.  Next is to make sure you pick the right medium and to move the blade to the appropriate number.

 

 

There is a yellow side and a white side to the adhesive.  Make sure when you load into your machine that the white is facing up.

 

 

Just like vinyl, you have to weed. This way the parts you don't want to have glitter on will be gone. 

 



 

This is what it looks like after it's all weeded.

 

Peel off the white backing and stick to you pumpkin.  Make sure that you rub the whole image down.

 

Once the image is on the pumpkin, remove the yellow backing to reveal the sticker sheet.

 

Now you will pour the glitter over the entire sticker.

 

I put a 12x12 piece of cardstock down and tapped the pumpkin.  Most of the glitter fell off, but you will still have some left to remove. To do this, use a small paint brush to knock off the excess.

 

This is how it will look when finished.  Super easy!!!

 

I really like how it turned out!

Another Halloween Treat Idea

Here is another Halloween treat idea that I thought you might like.  I used the Kooky Spooky papers from Peppermint Creative and designed a cute cupcake holder in Silhouette Studio. 

 

After I cut the wrapper out with my Silhouette Cameo, I took a black cupcake wrapper and put it inside the wrapper that I designed and cut.  Before adding the candy, I put them both in a clear box.  I finished it off by tying a ribbon around the box.

Halloween Treats

Yeah, I finally got my computer issues fixed and was able to work on these cute treat boxes this past weekend.  I used one of my favorite Halloween sets by Peppermint Creative.  It's called Spooky Cuties. 

 

I designed these treat boxes in Silhouette Studio using the commercial vectors, Spooky Cuties from Peppermint Creative.  I have had so much fun with this set.  Here are a couple of other things I have made with this set.

 

First I cut vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo and applied to clear cups.  I then filled them up with lots of candy!!

 

 

ENJOY!!!  I have a couple of other Halloween ideas to come!

Ooga Booga Bat Card

 

With Halloween right around the corner, I wanted to make some cute cards to send to my niece and nephew.  I made one and have one to go.

For this card I used the Ooga Booga Monster Doodles and Kooky Spooky papers from Peppermint Creative. 

Lovin' these cute little Ooga Booga Monsters.  They go great with the Kooky Spooky papers.

Designed in Silhouette Studio Edition using the print and cut feature!  Love my Cameo!!!

Happy Fall Yall.......

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  I love the colors and the cooler temperatures mostly.   It's the time when you get to go to the pumpkin patch to get your pumpkins to decorate.  It also means that Halloween is right around the corner.  For me, Halloween is about pumpkins, candy, cute decorations and fun fall parties.  I don't like the scary part of Halloween. 

When the kids were younger, I use to love decorating for school parties.  I even hostested a fall party for my son's football team one year.  We roasted hotdogs, smores and had all the candy, pop and deserts you could think of.  We even had a really fun scavenger hunt. 

So for this month's FB Challenge, I had an idea of what I wanted to do.   These cute bags are perfect for parties, giving to your special friends, or ever your co-workers.   And after all the candy is gone, you are still left with the cute little bat to wear for years to come.   You could do the spider treat bags the same way, but I opted to paint them directly onto the bags.

I got these little muslin bags from Pick Your Plum.  I bought them last year, but forgot I had them until it was too late to use them for Halloween.   I've been waiting all this time to use them.   The images used on these cute bat and spider treat bags are from Peppermint Creative.

Used these commercial vectors from Peppermint Creative for my project.

First I opened Silhouette Studio Designer Edition and picked the circle on the left hand of the screen and drug out about a 2 inch circle and did a trace outline on my spider.  I loaded the acetate and hit cut.  It was cut on a blade setting of 3 and speed 3.

For my little bat pin, I did a print and cut and then cut 2 more of the same size on silhouette chipboard.

When you do a print and cut you will make sure that you choose the right paper size and check registration

marks (shown below)

My printer only prints up to a 8 1/2 x 11.  One day I will get one that prints bigger, but for now this will work. 

To cut the chipboard you do NOT do a print and cut so  you can use 12 x 12.  I also had a scrap piece that fit right at the top of my page. (You can see it in the "supply" picture above)  To cut, choose chipboard in the print menu.

(Please excuse the bad manicure, I just finished painting a wood pumpkin that needed touching up ~ wish I would have done a better job at getting it all off ~ sorry!)

After getting all the pieces printed and cut out, the next step is to paint on the muslin bags.  First, cut a piece of card board and put into your bag.  This keeps the paint from bleeding through. 

Next put a little paint into a paper plate.   Dab your sponge brush off a little so that you don't have your brush too wet.

Put your stencil on your bag ( I used a couple of pieces of double stick tape to help hold it in place)

Apply using and inward motion.

Remove your template and let dry.  For this one, you will still have to make the little bat pin. 

 For the bat you will follow the same steps using the spider template.

To finish off the spider, you will add the google eyes using a glue stick.  I purchased the glue stick in the part of the craft store that sells all the tiny gems. 

Now to make the removable bat pin. 

Take one of the bats that you cut out of the chipboard and add a layer of modge podge.

Add another layer of chip board and then another layer of modge podge. 

Yep, I'm pretty messy!  (I can't believe I'm actually posting this picture)

After getting the chip board pieces together, smash them together with your fingers all the way around.

Apply another layer of modge podge and put the printed bat on top.  You can put another layer over the top, but I chose not to. 

(bad nails again!)  Wish I would have paid more attention to that.  UGH!!!

To finish your bat, add the pin.  I used pins that didn't require any glue.  You just remove the sticker paper and stick it to your project.

That's it!!!!  Add your pin to your treat bag and your done!  Aren't they cute?

My Swap buddy, Jessica, got the package I sent her!!!

I'm so excited!  My swap buddy got her package I sent her.  I was a little worried if she would like the stuff  I was collecting to send her.  It's official.....she loved it.  Whoohooo!  

Okay, so let me explain how I joined this swap.  I'm in a Silhouette group on Facebook that does a monthly challenge.  It was started Lauren from The Thinking Closet.  Of all the groups that I'm in, this one by far has been the neatest.  Shannon, a group member, headed up this swap.  She did an awesome job grouping us all up and having a fun questionnaire for everyone to answer.  We had a little over a month (I think) to get things together.  We were to use things we had in our craft supplies that either we weren't going to use anymore or that we had too much of.  Most of it did come out of my stash, but I snuck a few NEW things in there too.  Shhhh, don't tell!

Some of the ladies are starting to get their packages and post pictures.  I forgot to take a picture before I sent it.  I was too excited about sending it.  Jessica did, however, take a picture when she got it.  Here is a picture of the one I sent here and will post a picture as soon as I get the one from her.

Preschool Puzzle.......

I've been wanting to make a puzzle with my silhouette now for a while.  I had an idea of how I wanted it to look like, but didn't have the details together yet.  I knew that I would either use chipboard or cereal boxes to make it.  I found that the chipboard is a little thicker than cereal boxes.

When Miss Mint at Peppermint Creative put this kit together, I knew immediately that I was going to do two projects for the Creative Team.  One was my Memory Game that I posted earlier last week and the other was this cute preschool puzzle.  I almost nixed it when I saw that there was a tutorial that was posted on the Silhouette Blog last week doing a similar puzzle idea.  With all the creative minds out there and pinterest, we are bound to have same ideas cross paths.   It's just frustrating that you see it right before you are about to do your project.  It's happened to me twice in the last month.  But I have learned that it's okay, because each person has their own little twist on things.  And along the way, we may learn something from each other that the other person wasn't aware of.  Still with me? LOL!

For this puzzle I used the Little Learner kit.  It is the same kit that I used on the Memory Game that I
made. 

I used my Silhouette Cameo and the Silhouette Designer Edition to design this preschool puzzle.

 

 

I used the elements in the set to make the pieces and used one of the papers out of the set to put on top of the puzzle.

 

Here you can see that when I designed the puzzle the back piece of the puzzle had finger holes, so that you can easily take the pieces back out. 

 

 

 

To make the puzzle I used 3 layers of chipboard and two layers of cardstock.  I put those together with Modge Podge.  The pieces felt like a wood puzzle after it dried.

Back to School Project.....

I can't believe my son is a SENIOR this year!!  My baby, a Senior! (where are my tissues)  I also can't believe that they have been in school almost a month already.  Some schools don't start until after Labor Day!  I'm all for that! 

I wish that I knew what I know about digital crafting and I had my FAVORITE tool, my Silhouette Cameo!  I would have been a major crafting momma. My kiddos would have been lacking nutrition and attention.  I can imagine how it might have been. 

Kids:  Mom, I'm hungry
Me:  Not now, I'm crafting
Kids: But Mom, you said that yesterday, I haven't eaten in two days.
Me:  I'm almost done, what's one more day gonna do?
Kids:  Can we got out to play
Me:  Sure!  Have fun!

No, not really!!!  I would have Never (wink wink) done that!  Actually when they were little almost every minute was devoted to them.  Not sure that was good or not, I stayed stressed most of the time.  I think EVERY mommy needs some "me" time!  Boy the things I would have done different!

Miss Mint at Peppermint Creative has been a very busy bee!  She is busting new kits out like crazy.  I was alittle worried I wouldn't be able to keep up because my computer crashed.  I don't know if you have experienced that, but it isn't fun at all!

 

 

When I saw this kit, Little Learner, I knew immediately what I was going to do!  I use to love playing Memory with my kids when they were younger.  So I thought I would make a game for a teacher friend of mine to give to her kiddos in her class.

 

 

For this project I used the new kit, Little Learner!  

 

 I used the Silhouette Studio Edition to design the cards and the cute box they go in.  For the fronts I used most the bolder elements and used the composition paper for the backs.  I also cut out a third layer from a cereal box.  It was perfect thickness and gave the pieces some sturdiness.  You can use chipboard if you would like, but it is more expensive. 

 

Here is the setting I used to cut out the cereal box.  My mat was almost new so it didn't require any extra taping down.  Speed - 1, Blade - 7, cutting mat checked and double cut checked.

 

 

For the box I modified a box file I got from The Cutting Cafe'.  I used paper from the same kit to make the top and bottom of the box.  The tag was also designed in Silhouette Studio Edition.

The Cutting Cafe Blog Hop...Pumpkin Trio

This post is bitter sweet.  This will be my last post for The Cutting Cafe' for a while. (sniff sniff)  I have done two terms and it's my turn to sit out for a while.  I can't begin to tell you how much being a part of the design team and helped improved many aspects of my life.  Not to mention making new friends that will hopefully last a life time.

For my last project (and Blog Hop), I used the Pumpkin Trio.  I love fall and I can't wait for it to get here.  I love the colors, the pumpkins, the smells and the cooler weather.  I decided to only use one of the pumpkins from the set. 

I love using craft cardstock.  The polka dots were designed in the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition.  I designed  it with two layers so that you can change the color polka dots if you want to.  You can get it here.

  Just click on each layer to change colors.  I haven't tested it, so I hope it works

 extra layers.  She has made it so easy for us.  I love this lady.  I'm so going to miss being a part of the team.  Let me grab some tissues...(still sniffing!)
